Reenacting history, today.

Welcome to the home of Cushing’s 4th U.S. Artillery, Battery A, a Civil War reenactment group based out of the Rochester, NY, area.

Alonzo Hereford Cushing (January 19, 1841 – July 3, 1863) was an artillery officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was killed in action during Battle of Gettysburg while defending the Union position on Cemetery Ridge against Pickett's Charge.

On August 26, 2014, the White House announced Cushing would be posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, with President Obama presiding over the official ceremony on November 6, 2014.

We chose to honor the legacy of Cushing by representing his Light Artillery Battery in our reenactments. He was raised in nearby Fredonia, NY.

Reenactments are exhilarating.

Our light artillery unit travels all over the US every year to participate in the authentic recreation of major US Civil War battles attended by thousands of other reenactors from around the world.

We are a family friendly group always looking for more people to join in on our fun.

“I stay right here and fight it out or die in the attempt.”
